Welcome to the GSCWM Alumnae Association
Once a Girl Scout always a Girl Scout
Girl Scouts of Central and Western Massachusetts (GSCWM) is in the forefront of helping girls develop the courage, confidence and character to make a difference in their own lives, in their communities and in the world.
As a girl
you hiked trails and camped out under the stars. You canvassed your neighborhood to sell Thin Mints. You honed your skills with each badge you earned. You learned to lead. And you built lifelong friendships.
Do you remember
the pride you felt when you were finally able to say the Girl Scout Promise by heart? Or do you remember the sense of accomplishment that came from stitching a hard-earned badge onto your Girl Scout sash? Or the incredible feeling of success you experienced when a stranger bought a box of cookies from you?
If so, you are part of a 59-million-strong network
of Girl Scout alumnae.
Girl Scout programs have helped develop women like you into leaders who are shaping the course of our nation. Each of us has a success story to tell and memories to share.
- 80% of women business owners are Girl Scout alumnae
- 70% of female U.S. senators are Girl Scout alumnae
- 64% of the women in Who's Who of American Women are Girl Scout alumnae
- 67% female members of the House of Representatives are Girl Scout alumnae
- 92% of female astronauts were Girl Scouts
Women who were Girl Scouts are more likely than non-Girl Scouts to display a positive sense of self, obtain an advanced degree, vote in public elections, engage in community service and achieve their life goals.
As the Girl Scouts of Central and Western Massachusetts we are dedicated to helping girls develop qualities that will serve them all their lives, like leadership, strong values, social conscience, and conviction about their own potential and self-worth. More than 50 million American women have enjoyed Girl Scouting during their lifetime - and that number continues to grow as Girl Scouts continues to inspire, challenge, and empower girls everywhere.
Whatever your Girl Scout story may be—Brownie, Junior, Cadette, a troop leader, a camp volunteer, a staff member, or dozens of others—you are a Girl Scout alumnae with stories, friendships and a lifelong of experience in being the courageous, confident character you are.
