Extreme Foresters

Make shelters, purify water, and read the signs in the trees - that’s just the start of your outdoor survival fun. The challenge is on when you follow clues in an Enchanted Forest scavenger hunt. You will be staying in the Enchanted Forest (EF) unit for this program.

On Belay

Experience the thrill of the climb! You’ll hit the road for a day at the rock climbing gym in Hadley. Before the week is over, you’ll also conquer your fear of heights at a local high ropes course. Have fun, climb on, all with experienced instructors.

Do you love making your own tasty creations? Come learn about cooking indoors and out. Tour the industrial kitchen and learn what it takes to plan a menu for all of camp. Over the campfire, you’ll cook with a box oven, pie iron, dutch oven, and more! You will, of course, have time for your favorite camp activities as well.

Day Trekkers
Session 5: July 28-August 2

Practice pitching a tent, starting a fire, and lacin’ up those boots before you head out of camp. Your group will start by exploring camp trails, then plan your off-camp trips. You’ll take a one-day hiking adventure and a second trip to hike and stay overnight at a nearby campground. You’ll work toward your Junior Camper badge.
*Participants should bring broken-in hiking boots and must be able to hike 3-5 miles per day.
Paddlers
Session 5: July 28-August 2

Spend your week on Big Pond. You’ll practice both canoeing and kayaking to learn the ways of the water. Make time for swimming, arts and crafts, and songs and games, too. Canoe around the island and kayak the wetlands, if your group decides.

Sail It

Set sail on a Sunfish! Spend your week learning the basics of sailing, reading the winds, and safety on the water. You will still have time for arts and crafts, archery, and swimming too!

Appalachian Trail Trekkers
Session 1: June 30-July 5

Learn the how-tos of backpacking as you hike the Appalachian Trail in the Berkshires. Carry your supplies and camp along the trail for two nights. Plan your meals, learn to use a backpacking stove, and read a topographic map. Bring your own backpack and sleeping pad or borrow them from camp.
*Participants should bring broken-in hiking boots and must be able to hike 5-10 miles per day carrying a pack 15-20% of their body weight. It is recommended that you have participated in Day Trekkers or have similar experience.
Carabiner Crew

Spend the week perfecting your climbing skills. Conquer Camp Bonnie Brae’s team challenge course before heading off-camp to rock climb with professional instructors. You’ll also zip line among the treetops on a canopy tour. Back at camp, make time for swimming, archery, and a cookout.
*Participants must be able to hike two miles carrying a day pack and climbing gear (10- 15 pounds). It is recommended that you have participated in On Belay or have similar experience.
CT River Runners

Practice your skills on Big Pond, paddle the wetlands, then you’ll take to the river. Work with your group to map out a multi-day trip on the Connecticut River. You’ll still have time for all of your favorite camp activities when you’re on land.

Perfect your skills on Big Pond and head towards a harbor paddle on the Atlantic Ocean. You’ll depart Camp Bonnie Brae toward the coast for a day of kayaking led by professional guides. Camp overnight before making your return. Back at Bonnie Brae, there will be time for all of your favorite camp activities.

Girls with Guitars

Want to learn the chords that make up your favorite camp songs? Whether you’ve played for years or never picked up a guitar, your instructor will tailor lessons to your level. Bring a guitar of your own or use one of ours. You will have lessons every day and still get to take part in all the other fun at camp.
Living off the Land

Enjoy the thrill of Big Pond! During this week, you’ll learn all you need to know to be able to sail a Sunfish. After you’ve had some practice, your group will help plan the 2013 Big Pond Invitational, where you’ll invite younger sailors and compete in sailing races.

Climb Away

Are you ready for a challenge? Start out on the low ropes course at Camp Bonnie Brae by conquering the Peanut Butter Pit and traversing the Mohawk Walk, then pack your bags for two days of climbing on real rocks. You’ll still have time for all of your favorite camp activities.
*Participants must be able to hike five miles carrying a day pack and climbing gear (10-15 pounds). It is recommended that you have participated in Carabiner Crew or have similar experience.
Epic Trekkers

CBB Boot Camp

This is the most hard-core survivor program at Camp Bonnie Brae - total confinement in the Enchanted Forest. Girls will cook most of their meals over the campfire, build their own sleeping shelters, perform solo fire building, and learn survival skills. Make sure you come with arms to row, because you’ll only be permitted to canoe or kayak out of the forest.

Teen Leadership Programs
Camp Green Brae

Can’t choose between Green Eyrie and Bonnie Brae? You don’t have to! Discover and experience the very best of both camps during this special two-week session. You’ll spend your first week at Camp Green Eyrie then head southwest to spend your second week at Bonnie Brae. During your stay at both camps, you’ll learn a little bit about what it takes to be on staff, practice leadership skills, and work with some younger campers. If you’re thinking about doing CIT at either camp, this program is the place to start.
*Check-in will be at Camp Green Eyrie and pick-up will be at Camp Bonnie Brae.
CIT I
Grade 11

Develop skills to work with children in an educational, outdoor setting. Gain an understanding of child development, camp programming, outdoor living, behavior management, teaching techniques, problem solving, decision making, and communication. Then, put your new skills to the test when you intern in a camper unit. All interested girls must submit an application and will participate in an interview process.
*Campers will stay at camp, including weekends, sessions 2-4. They will return for session 5 for an internship in a camper unit. Single registration for both training and internship.
CIT II
Grade 12
Session 1: June 30 - July 5 (REQUIRED); Other sessions as determined with Camp Director

Live at camp, work in units or program areas, and get in-depth, on-the-job experience and training. You may opt to earn your CIT II pin. All CIT II’s must attend Session 1 for training. Additional weeks (for internship) will be decided after the interview process. All interested participants must submit an application and three reference forms and will be contacted for an interview. Prior participation in CIT I is preferred.
*Must attend June 30 - July 5 session. May register for other sessions after interview process.
