Winterfest Come to Camp Bonnie Brae to try your hand at cross-country skiing. Learn about what animals do in the winter, play snow games, and even go ice fishing! Participants should bring a lunch and drink. Remember to dress warmly, most activities will take place outside. Details:
Puppets, Dolls & Plays Confidence in who you are will inspire the first of 3 puppets. We will explore puppets from around the world as we get our creative juices flowing! In small groups, the girls will then perform small skits which the teams design together to represent topics they care about. Then join the GSCWM Quarter Notes! We will learn Girl Scout songs, traditional folk songs from around the world, rounds and other unison or 2-part music, along with some basic choreography to perform at Council functions and community events. Regular rehearsals will be held every other month, with a dress rehearsal before performances. No audition is required, but a willingness to learn new music and perform for a crowd is a must! Self Defense for Brownies Think Brownies are too young or too small to learn how to defend themselves? Think again! Girls will learn techniques they can use if they ever find themselves in a sticky situation. We'll cover bullying, self-confidence, body language, tone of voice and more! Age-appropriate and totally fun! Girls will earn an out-of-council Brownie Try-It at this workshop. Details:
Brownie Quest Begin your Brownie Quest Journey! Cadette Girl Scouts will be leading the Brownies through a series of stations and group activities which will take them through most of the journey. Brownies will be armed with the tools and the enthusiasm to complete the Take Action Project on their own or with their troop after the workshop. The Cadettes are there to earn their LiA awards (Leader in Action) and are great role models for our younger girls. Girls will receive their journey books and leaders will receive 1 leader guide per troop to help them finish their journey. The journey awards are also included. Details:
Springfield Science Museum Camp In - Space Explorer and Sky Search Girls will discover a variety of nature and science related information while connecting with sister Girl Scouts and participating in hands on, fun activities. Girls will sleep beside a coral reef, or next to live animals or the Tyrannosaurus rex. An evening pizza party and light breakfast is included. Everyone views the planetarium show, screen prints their own t-shirt and has exclusive access to the Black Holes: Space Warps and Time Twists exhibit at the Science Museum. Girl Scout Day at OSV Join Girl Scouts from across New England and beyond while you learn about multi-culturalism in New England in the early 19th century. Inspired by Women's History Month, girls can explore the everyday lives of girls and women through demonstrations and performances! Visit the animals and the costumed villagers throughout the countryside and the center village. Also, pre-register online to participate in 50-minute badge and Try-It workshops or consider making a quick craft in the Craft Center. This event attracted over 1800 girls last year. During this hands-on session with a local artist, girls can make bottle cap jewelry, brooch pins with buttons and paper clips, and then pile their treasures into a custom-designed jewelry box fashioned from a reusable shoe box. Turn castaways into fun and functional stuff. It's fun being green! As space is small, please limit the number of adults. If the morning program fills, an afternoon session may be added. Music Exploration Connect with Maestro Bruce Hangen and the Orchestra of Indian Hill for a fun-filled, educational evening to include: exploration of musical instruments, introduction to famous composers and the stories behind their music, discovery of musical patterns and rhythms, and listen to a live orchestra rehearsal. Or that some frogs freeze solid in winter? Bring your sense of adventure for an indoor program all about FROGS, an after-dark hike on the wildlife sanctuary, and then cozy up to sleep indoors in our visitor center. This program is set up for small troops looking for an overnight experience with an outdoor component. Animal Connections Explore Overlook Farm’s Global Village and learn about the benefits of livestock animals to humans and the 7 M's: Milk, Manure, Meat, Material, Money, Motivation, and Muscle. Learn through hands-on activities like spinning wool in Peru or milking a goat in Guatemala. Time permitting; we may also tour our other livestock facilities to see our many farm animals. Activities may vary with the size of the group and the season. This trip is a nice tie-in with your Animals and People of the World Try-Its. Call for other dates and larger-group requests. Boston Museum of Science Overnight Girl Scouts have been enjoying the overnights at the Museum of Science for many years for a truly unique night of fun and learning! Girls participate in fun, hands-on science activities, live demonstrations and shows! Evening snack and breakfast included. Each girl receives a souvenir overnight patch and a pass for one free return visit to the planetarium. Each group must provide a trained overnight leader and first aider and provide 1 adult for every 5 girls (minimum 2 adults per group - maximum determined by the number of girls registered). Details:

With over 14,000 square feet of amazing climbing walls from 15 to 40-feet high, a massive lead arch and super long overhangs, there'll be plenty to do at this Girl Scout Day event! Central Rock closes its doors to the public for our 4-hour session of rock climbing fun! A healthy twist and we have a whole new reason to care and share! We will create a picture book using recycled magazines. Show you care and donate it to a young child! Let's act out what-if scenarios using recycling situations…comedy is ok! We will make scrapbooks from recycled materials as we continue to explore what we can do around us! This workshop will get the girls thinking about others and the world around them in a positive way. Fun for all ages as girls learn about and 'live' an era gone by in beautiful Wistariahurst, a Victorian mansion. Girls will discover what life was like in the late 1800s, while participating in a variety of hands-on activities. They will learn and live Victorian fashion, hair styles, outdoor games, letter writing, decorating and more. Girl Scouts will be divided into small groups as they travel through the museum. Plants Herbs and other perennials start coming up quite early in our Cooks Garden in Historic Deerfield. Come and join us for a hands-on, sensory experience as you earn your Plants Try- It. You will learn the names of some common plants used in early cooking, and have a chance to smell and try some savory herbs while you are in the garden. Zoobilee Meet animals up close and personal after hours at the zoo when it becomes a fantastically fun, wildlife learning place for Girl Scouts. Horsemanship Basics Learn about grooming, leading, safety, equine behavior, tacking up and more in this half-day workshop at Biscuit Hill Farm in Shelburne. This will be a chance to work towards your horse related badges or to just have fun and learn about horses and then get a chance to ride one. Be sure to wear hard sole shoes. Helmets will be provided for any participants that do not own one. Come spend the morning at a horse farm! Details:

Go behind the scenes with an exciting tour that brings you up close and personal with many exotic species. You will learn about the history of the zoo, captive versus wild environments, exhibit design, adaptations, animal behaviors, enrichment and healthy diets. You’ll learn about their care, equipment, food and how you need to act around horses to stay safe. Get some hands-on time as you learn about horse grooming. Boston Museum of Science Overnight Girl Scouts have been enjoying the overnights at the Museum of Science for many years for a truly unique night of fun and learning! Girls participate in fun, hands-on science activities, live demonstrations and shows! Evening snack and breakfast included. Each girl receives a souvenir overnight patch and a pass for one free return visit to the planetarium. Each group must provide a trained overnight leader and first aider and provide 1 adult for every 5 girls (minimum 2 adults per group - maximum determined by the number of girls registered). Details:

You will enjoy all that Camp Bonnie Brae has to offer - sports, archery, arts and crafts - even polar bear swimming and a special kayak to the island. GirlSports Adventure Being active and challenging yourself is a great way to discover just what you can do when you try. Cross an imaginary alligator-infested swamp with the help of your team and a swinging vine, balance together on a giant teeter-totter, protect your “Jedi Warrior” while trying to tag theirs by throwing yarn balls through space...earn your GirlSports Try-It by playing energy-packed field games, working together to figure out brain–teasing challenges and supporting each other while climbing out of your “comfort zone” on the low rope challenge course ~ all in the spirit of adventure! Girl Scout Day at the Worcester Tornadoes Come cheer on the Worcester Tornadoes baseball team at Hanover Park at Fitton Field. Join “Twister” on his birthday and meet other mascots from the area who are coming to help him celebrate! Arrive by 1:30pm to join in the Girl Scout parade around the field before the game (bring a banner or troop flag if you like). The first 200 girls to purchase tickets will receive a Tornadoes patch! Animal Connections Explore Overlook Farm’s Global Village and learn about the benefits of livestock animals to humans and the 7 M's: Milk, Manure, Meat, Material, Money, Motivation, and Muscle. Learn through hands-on activities like spinning wool in Peru or milking a goat in Guatemala. Time permitting, we may also tour our other livestock facilities to see our many farm animals. Activities may vary with the size of the group and the season. This trip is a nice tie-in with your Animals and People of the World Try-Its. Call for other dates and larger-group requests.
