Girl Recognitions
Recognitions are an important part of the Girl Scout program and one of the ways we celebrate Girl Scout successes. Girl Scouting provides many different ways for girls to explore the world around them and find out about new subjects. A badge might be earned because she has already attained a lot of skill; another might be earned as she discovers a new talent. She might complete her activities as part of the troop activities, or she might pursue individual interests. All girl recognitions are designed to provide a progression of skills mastery throughout her Girl Scout journey.
Council’s Own Awards
In addition to insignia offered by Girl Scouts of the USA, Girl Scouts of Cental and Western Massachusetts has developed Our Council’s Own insignia. These are created to reflect a special quality or resource in our community.
Patch Programs
Participation Patches are a fun way to learn something new.
Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards
The Bronze Award for Juniors, the Silver Award for Cadettes, and the Gold Award for Seniors are the highest level of achievement a girl can reach within that age-level.
Religious Recognitions
Girl Scouts of the U.S.A. has approved religious recognitions programs and allows the recognition insignia to be worn on the official uniform, but each religious organization develops and administers its own program. For more information, visit the website or download the brochure.
