The Girl Scout Leadership Experience
The Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE) is all about YOU! It’s a series of fun activities for you to do, think about, and discuss. It’s the basis of everything you do in Girl Scouting. It’s not just “what” you do, but “how” you do it, that makes Girl Scouting fun and different from school and others activities. In Girl Scouts, you’re encouraged to plan your own activities, find the best ways to do them, and work with other girls to form a team and reach your goals. That way, you can have the most fun and do some learning along the way.
How Will YOU Participate?
Between school, sports, music, church groups, and hanging out with friends, your schedule is packed. But don’t worry… Girl Scouts can still fit in. We’ve created six different ways you can participate - some last all year, some last just a few weeks, and some only a day. Some take you across the neighborhood, some across the county. And the best part is… you get to decide! Choose one, two or all of them – plus you can change them up every year.
Camp
Whether you’re a lifelong camper or want to experience the out-of-doors for the first time, this is the pathway for you! The camp pathway includes summer day and overnight camps, one-day camping events, weekend camporees, and lots of other fun outdoor experiences throughout the year. For information about day and overnight camps, click here.
Events
If you want to attend lots of different one-day or weekend events, this is the option for you. Select from over 300 events offered by Girl Scouts and our Community Program Partners. For information about programs for your age level, click one of these links:
Series
This is your chance to dive deeper into one topic. Maybe you want to sing as part of the Choral Group or learn to sail at Maritime Mania! Or maybe you want to experience a journey, but you don’t have time to be part of a troop. Series give you the chance to participate in ongoing programs (of various lengths) outside of a troop. Click here to learn more about the series currently available.
Troop
Do you like the idea of meeting with the same group of girls each week? Then the troop pathway is for you. Troops are groups of girls who the same age, who meet regularly (once a week, every other week or monthly). Each group decides what they want to do, but it could include working on Try-Its/Badges/Interest Projects, Journeys and other awards, planning camping trips, taking part in the Cookie Sale, or anything else they can think of.
Travel
For those of you who love to visit new places, the Travel pathway is a perfect option. Take part in the planning and money earning, and then enjoy a trip around the state, around the country, or around the world. Click here for information about upcoming trips that you can join in on.
Virtual
Do you speak in TTYLs and BRBs? Do you love playing on the computer and hanging out in cyber-space? Then the virtual pathway might be the right fit. This interactive Girl Scout option takes places in a safe, secure online environment and is supplemented with in-person events. Our first semi-virtual series is our Go Girls! Bowling League (the bowling is real, but the league is virtual!). Check it out by clicking here.
Take a Journey
Each Girl Scout level, Daisies (grades K-1) to Ambassadors (grades 11-12), takes you on a “journey” - a series of activities grouped around a theme. Each journey is full of exciting adventures and allows you to earn awards along the way. Click on one of these links for more information about journeys for your level:
