Girl Scouts having fun!Why does giving matter?

  • More than 14,000 girls, ages 5-17, in 186 communities across central and western Massachusetts benefit from the multitude of cutting-edge, contemporary programs and activities offered through Girl Scouting, and chances are, YOU know at least one of them!
  • Each girl chooses her own personal pathway to leadership, guided and supported by one or more of our 5,000 adult volunteers. This pathway can span over many years, as a girl grows through the many levels of Girl Scouting, culminating in the achievement of the Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest award a girl can earn.
  • Just as our girls have grown in courage, confidence and character, so do the adult volunteers who provide mentorship. Ask any Girl Scout volunteer and she will tell you that Girl Scouting allowed her to learn and to participate in adventures she would never have tried.
  • What is the result? Sparkle, excitement, self confidence, the knowledge to pursue one’s dreams. Girls and adults are empowered to step out of their comfort zone and face challenges never before envisioned.
  • Who are the winners? Our communities – big time! We talk about the development of girls as they achieve one goal after another, but in the end, these girls become the women leaders in our communities – women who are not afraid to speak up and take charge; women who make our world a better place.

Girl Scouts is what we need! Here’s how your financial contribution goes to work for Girl Scouts. Your gift…

  • Helps GSCWM offer innovative, informal educational programs which align with the State of Massachusetts educational curriculum guidelines. Programs include financial literacy, health and fitness, science, technology, engineering and science (STEM), outdoor appreciation, ecology, travel, self esteem and so much more.
  • Provides more than $3,000 annually for financial assistance to girls to participate in programs and attend our camps.
  • Provides resources to train and support the work of 5,000 dedicated adult volunteers, as well as outreach to parents.
  • Helps us maintain our Girl Scout service centers, and camp properties at Camp Bonnie Brae (East Otis), Camp Green Eyrie (Harvard), Camp Marion White (Richmond), Camp Lewis Perkins (South Hadley), Camp Kinnebrook (Worthington), Camp Hickory Hill (Northbridge), Camp Laurel Wood (Spencer), and Camp Neyati (Leicester), to ensure girls’ safety and well-being.

Happy Girl ScoutsDid you know…?

  • The cost to bring Girl Scouting to just one girl in central and western Massachusetts is over $300 per year. This is because ALL programming is subsidized, including camp.
  • The $12 annual membership registration fee that girls and adults pay to join Girl Scouts is forwarded directly to our national organization, GSUSA, to develop and support programming and member insurance.
  • Troop dues provide funds for Girl Scout Troop activities only.
  • Income from the Girl Scout Cookie Sale and other product and council shop sales meets the needs of only a portion of our council’s annual expenses, requiring us to reach out to our individual, civic and corporate friends in the community to help fund the remainder.
