Welcome to Girl Scout Leadership

Required:  For all troop/group leaders, co-leaders, and assistant leaders
Timeline:  Prior to first troop meeting
Prerequisite: Prior completion of GSUSA Orientation recommended
Description:

The Welcome to Girl Scout Leadership course is a 2 – 2.5 hour (depending on the group size) course reviewing the essential details required to begin a new Girl Scout troop or group. Some of the topics covered include overview of our council structure, who in your community to contact with questions, safety, program resources, being fiscally responsible, parent involvement, product sales, and what to do now that you said “Yes, I’ll be a Girl Scout leader!”

This course is MANDATORY and must be completed prior to the first troop meeting.

Welcome to Girl Scout Leadership is conducted in many service units at the mutual convenience of the Service Unit Manager/Membership Staff and the new volunteer. It is also offered in some areas as a classroom course.
