Facilitator Training Opportunities
How to Give the “Welcome to Girl Scout Leadership” Presentation
Are you interested in helping new volunteers in your service unit or surrounding community prepare for their roles as troop leaders or co-leaders? This course will prepare you to become a Welcome Presenter, someone who mentors new volunteers through the “onboarding process” by leading Welcome to Girl Scout Leadership sessions. Complete Welcome to Girl Scout Leadership which reviews the essential details required to begin a new Girl Scout troop or group. Some of the topics covered include overview of our council structure, who in your community to contact with questions, safety, program resources, being fiscally responsible, parent involvement, product sales, and what to do now that you said “Yes, I’ll be a Girl Scout leader!". 3 hrs; face to face or webinar.
Update on How to Give a “Welcome to Girl Scouts Leadership” Presentation
This course is available to volunteers who are current Welcome to Girl Scout Leadership presenters interested in continuing in this role for the new membership year. This is a shortened version of the “How to Give a Welcome to Girl Scouts Leadership” which highlights changes in forms and procedures. 2 hrs; face-to-face or webinar.

Annual GSCWM Volunteer Facilitator Retreat
This exciting training day is for all facilitators, facilitator assistants and facilitators in training. This annual event provides an opportunity for all GSCWM workshop facilitators (“trainers”) to come together in preparation for the new membership year. Opportunities for networking and providing feedback to council on training related topics will be woven between learning sessions designed for new and seasoned facilitators. Sessions this year are expected to include:
- What’s New at GSCWM? Program, volunteer procedures, and training/workshop changes
- Customer Service-providing the best, dealing with “the ugly”
- Adult Learning (for new facilitators)
- Being a Great Mentor (for lead facilitators), and
- GSLE Connections

Prerequisite: Must be an appointed GSCWM facilitator or facilitator in training.
Welcome presenters interested in becoming workshop facilitators may attend, but are not required to attend.
